First, let me explain. The Chinese language uses a complicated system of Kanji characters as their 'alphabet'. But instead of representing a 'letter' as our English alphabet does, each Kanji character represents a concept or an idea. And Chinese words can consist of multiple

Kanji characters to achieve an overall concept.

During the Cuban missile crisis, President Kennedy used the illustration of the Chinese word for 'crisis'. It turns out that in the Chinese language, the word for 'crisis' contains two Kanji characters. One character represents 'danger', the other character represents 'opportunity'.

The point that I'm making when I'm speaking to these groups, is that in order to succeed, to gain a competitive advantage in your field, you need to know three things....

    • What the opportunities are
    • What the dangers are;
    • And where the risks are.

You see, if you have first hand knowledge of the challenges your competitors may be coping with (their 'dangers') then you can quickly react and turn those 'dangers' into your opportunities.

On the other hand, your problems, become opportunities for your competition.
